Nightmares of Nature is the second group in the Weird n' Wild Creatures set. This group covers animals that are fierce and often dangerous, and heavily focuses on larger animals as well. By the end of the series, it has the third highest card count, at 117, behind only Strange Wonders and Monsters of the Past; 111/117 of the creatures featured have trading cards. This group is represented by the color green.

Trivia

• This set of knowledge cards:
  • Is the only group with (real) animals to start with a mammal card.
  • Has the most (real, modern) birds, at 17.
  • Has the fewest (real, modern) amphibians of any that include them, at 3.
    • For real amphibians, it loses to Monsters of the Past, which has 2, and overall both lose to Monsters of the Mind, at 1.
  • It is the only group featuring real amphibians that does not have a newt or salamander.
• The ordering of the cards in this group has a few notable numeric coincidences/themes:
  • Snapping Turtle’s card number (66) is exactly double that of its relative, the Alligator Snapping Turtle (33).
  • Salvadori Monitor is immediately followed by Gigantic Lace Monitor as cards 49 and 50 respectively.
  • After that, Jaguar, Cheetah, and Leopard are all together in numeric order, cards 51-53 respectively.
• Both this group and Toxic Terrors round off the 4th group of packets by ending at card 75.
